Sabelt, a world leader in the development and production of passive safety components and technical clothing for racing, introduces a new F1 seat belt.
For 2009, thanks to the use of new materials, seat belt weight has been reduced by 20%, going from about 870 grams for the entire system to only 685 grams, aiming to reach 550 within this season. This development is due to the necessity to reduce the weight of many components mainly because the introduction of KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System)  increased the total car weight by about 35 kg.

The 2009 seat belts, developed by the Sabelt Research and Development department in cooperation with F1 technicians and pilots, are made of new materials like magnesium alloy, titanium and composite materials.x

Sabelt to Relaunch Abarth Brand | Print |

CURNO, Italy -- Brembo SpA, a manufacturer of high-performance braking systems, and Sabelt SpA, a top name in racing seat belts and child safety products, have been selected by Fiat to take part in the re-launching of the Abarth brand.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Brembo and Sabelt signed a letter of intent to form a joint venture company, Brembo Performance SpA, which would focus on developing components and special accessories for motor vehicles and motorcycles.

In this new partnership with Fiat, Brembo and Sabelt will co-design the product concept jointly with Fiat, manufacture the items at their own production sites and handle customer logistics up until delivery of the product to authorized dealers and garages.

For Abarth’s kit and accessory program, the new partners will develop a complete portfolio of products connected with different versions, interiors and exteriors, going beyond the two companies’ standard range of components. Sabelt and Abarth have also signed a license agreement for the development, production, distribution and marketing of racing and sportswear.

The new joint venture is expected to begin operations by the end of this year.
